7 Jul 2016
Just a month ago the forth intentional airport was opened in Moscow, 43 km from the city center.
The airport Zhukovsky was opened on the 30th of May 2016. But the construction is not complete yet, it has only one runway which is the longest in Europe - 5.5 km. It will serve 2- 4 million passengers every year and expected to serve 12 million by 2020. The pathbreakers will be airlines from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
In order to avoid traffic jams a railway station will be built close to the airport, 35 minutes from Kazansky railway terminal. Also a bus from the Kotelniki metro station that will run every 30 minutes.
Also, according to the surveys conducted by the Airports Council International (ACI) among 550.000 passengers across 80 countries worldwide during 2015 the three airports in Russia were named the best in Europe: Sheremetyevo, Pulkovo and Sochi.
